Looking for God…
He’s right here. And there. Don’t you see Him? He’s looking at you with concern and love. Don’t you feel Him squeezing your shoulder in times of grief? Or hear Him cheering “woop-woop” at your successes?
He’s here. He’s all around. All the time.
Just look and listen. The Beatles’ “Let It Be” speaks of “words of wisdom” and “Mother Mary”. U2’s “Until the End of the World” is meaningless until you realize it’s a love song for Jesus from Judas, sung by Bono. Look carefully at a bill or a coin. “In God We Trust'“ is on each. God-prompts are everywhere, all the time.
Who or what are your influencers today? Who or what grabs your attention? Taylor Swift? She’s everywhere. Presidents Trump and Biden in slap-downs on the news? In contrast, subtle and sweet God-prompts are everywhere, all the time, calling out to you. Do you mindfully choose to ignore them or do you mindlessly not notice them?
Start recognizing God in everything and everywhere and everyone. A smile from a stranger, a text from one of your children or grands, the rolling clouds before a storm, the beauty of a snowflake or a flower, how you feel after praying or spending an hour in Adoration, etc. The peace you will receive will help you become the WITNESS OF LOVE that God calls for you to be.
"No one after lighting a lamp puts it under the bushel basket..." Matthew 5:15-16. Instead:
Vow to look for God everywhere, in everything and everyone.
Intentionally become a God influencer on the lives of family members and closest friends.
Love thy neighbor, even if it is a sacrifice.
Humbly serve everyone.
Set a good example by living the Beatitudes.
Shine brighter to lighten the darkness around us. Be the one who smiles, pays it forward, helps others. Be inexplicably wonderful!
